Christina O has a storied history, from serving in World War II to hosting important figures, including Sophia Loren and the Onassis family.

Superyachts and celebrities go together like caviar and blinis. A-listers have partied at sea since Pablo Picasso and Ernest Hemingway mainlined spirits on their bestie’s French Riviera boat.

On today’s yacht charter market, eight great yachts exude celebrity allure. They include the honeymoon yacht of Grace Kelly, plus Paris Hilton’s Bahamian charter. We advise that you escape the paparazzi by booking a week on board.

Grace

A large white yacht with multiple decks and illuminated windows floats on calm water under a colorful sunset sky with shades of pink, purple, and blue.
Grace is equipped with eight double kayaks, wetsuits, and snorkeling gear.

Grace is a head-turning classic with a backstory as dazzling as her former royal owners. In 1927, she launched as Deo Juvante II. When Nazi aggression raged across Europe, Britain’s Royal Navy requisitioned this gentleman’s cruiser to rescue soldiers trapped in France. In 1956, it gifted her to Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, to mark his marriage to American starlet Grace Kelly. The yacht became the royal couple’s home during their seven-week honeymoon cruise.

Remarkably, almost a century after her inception, this war hero and former royal yacht still charters in the Galapagos Islands. Grace has no room for jet skis, but this 144-foot yacht can carry snorkels, enabling all guests to dive into a vivid biosphere with 3,000 sea life species, and kayaks.

Grace books through Classic Charters from $129,000 per week. Your guests can fight over the yacht’s Grace Kelly suite.

Pronto

A spacious, modern yacht interior with wooden flooring, a round dining table and chairs, lounge seating, large windows, and ocean views in the background. The space is bright and elegantly decorated with plants.
Pronto’s interiors balance a subtle tropical theme with modern sophistication, featuring light woods and a neutral color palette with hints of blue.

Celebrities love the unique selling proposition of a catamaran, which has two hulls instead of one, and offers more space than yachts of a comparable size. Imagine a big floating square that can serve as a platform for dawn yoga or midnight movies projected onto an al fresco screen.

Sunreef owners, including tennis champion Rafael Nadal and Formula One star Fernando Alonso, swear by their catamarans. “The huge amount of space that my catamaran has…is the main reason for switching from monohull to multihull,” says Nadal. Paris Hilton and her husband, Carter Reum, booked the Sunreef 80 Power series catamaran Pronto for their Christmas break in the Bahamas. Pronto brings the archipelago’s 700 islands alive with a wet bar and a huge forward terrace.

Pronto charters with TWW Yachts from $90,000 per week.

Weatherbird

A classic white sailing yacht with two tall masts and full sails glides on calm blue water under a clear sky, with distant mountains and a city visible in the background.
Since she was built in 1931, Weatherbird has undergone several refits but retains its vintage charm.

This 98-foot schooner allows guests to, quite literally, party like Jay Gatsby’s gilded posse. That’s because Weatherbird was built for author F. Scott Fitzgerald’s French Riviera pals Sarah and Gerald Murphy. The Murphys were gin-slinging bons viveurs —socialites who lived for lavishness. Their yacht guests like Ernest Hemingway drank enough daiquiris to sink the French navy.

Forget toys. Weatherbird herself is the toy. She has acres of white sails and a flat deck that channels the celebrities of yesteryear. Interiors are gentleman-chic, with polished pine elements, cabin beds, and brass reading lights.

Weatherbird recently chartered with Northrop & Johnson from €45,000 ($53,000) per week. She is currently between owners but will return to the charter market at the end of 2025.

Christina O

A luxurious yacht deck at dusk features elegant dining tables, floral centerpieces, wooden paneling, and a colorful tiled floor with a fish design, all illuminated by soft blue and purple lighting.
Christina O is known for its iconic, mosaic-tiled pool deck that can be raised to become a dance floor.

Christina O was the world’s first true superyacht. Built as a World War II submarine hunter, her rugged heft was converted into elegant lines by post-war playboy Aristotle Onassis. After Onassis married Jacqueline Kennedy — President John F. Kennedy’s widow — their yacht hosted the 20th century’s greats: Richard Burton, Sir Winston Churchill, and Sophia Loren. This 325-foot leviathan still packs a punch. She can escort 34 guests in Art Deco splendor at speeds up to 14 knots — a volume and speed far greater than most contemporary boats. Even her twin Hacker Craft vintage tenders turn heads.

In a more recent brush with celebrity, Christina O starred in the film Triangle of Sadness (2022) alongside fictional captain Woody Harrelson and guileless model Harris Dickinson.

Christina O charters through Morley Yachts from €700,000 ($823,600) per week.

Planet Nine

A large, modern gray luxury yacht cruises on the open ocean under a blue sky with scattered clouds. A red helicopter is parked on the upper deck at the yachts rear.
Planet Nine features a helipad, a large observation lounge, and a beach club.

Planet Nine belongs not to a celebrity but to an aristocrat: Lord Nathaniel Rothschild, scion of the banking family. His 240-foot yacht was built for global autonomy. She can battle 10,000 nautical miles through glaciers and storms without assistance. Planet Nine has a bigger toybox than an oligarch’s spoiled child: an inflatable climbing wall, a floating assault course, eFoils, and ebikes. She can service charter destinations from Cuba to Antarctica, as long as your captain doesn’t run out of Nespresso pods.

Rothschild’s private yacht found fame as the star of Sir Christopher Nolan’s time-bending thriller Tenet (2020). Planet Nine hosted up to 100 film crew members alongside stars like Sir Kenneth Branagh on Italy’s Amalfi Coast. Her MD600 Explorer helicopter, which you can also charter, was repainted in military colors for the Hollywood shoot.

Planet Nine charters in the Mediterranean and Caribbean with Burgess from €650,000 ($765,000) per week.

Cyan has a spacious layout with a Jacuzzi, gym, and state-of-the-art entertainment system.

Still haven’t found what you’re looking for? The perfect charter is right here. U2 guitarist David Howell Evans, also known as the Edge, ownsCyan. She comes with rock star extras, including a baby grand piano and a DJI drone, which can zoom ahead during charters to search for empty beaches in the Mediterranean and Caribbean. On movie nights, an amphitheater of cushions encircles her nine-foot sundeck cinema screen. A library of the Edge’s 1,500 favorite movies complements guests’ Disney+ favorites.

A 2021 refit returned Cyan to the premier league of 160 footers — the industry’s most popular category, which offers the best value for a six-cabin charter. She stands out thanks to her dedication to outdoor living. Think sun pads, main deck dining, and a bridge deck bar. Outdoor speakers can serenade guests with U2 classics.

Cyan charters with Burgess from $196,000 per week.

Top Five II

Kylie Jenner is a serial yacht charterer who knows precisely what she wants. That’s why the youngest Kardashian spent her 27th birthday aboard Top Five II. The 200-foot superyacht is a meeting of two great industry talents: Sinot Yacht Architecture, which designs the world’s biggest boats, and Royal Hakvoort, which specializes in building one-of-a-kind yachts. Top Five II features a firepit, elevator, and swimming pool — accoutrements seldom found on lesser yachts.

The winter playground of Top Five II is the Bahamas, the Caribbean’s most popular charter destination, and in summer, she cruises the Mediterranean. Her X-Craft beach landing tender can port parasols, barbecues, and beach volleyball gear to deserted islands and hidden coves. Offshore, her toy collection includes an eFoil, kitesurf and wakesurf gear, wakeboards, inflatables, and a waterslide. Yacht tech includes zero-speed stabilizers that keep the yacht from rocking — and Jenner from spilling her yerba mate.

Top Five II charters from $550,000 per week.
